This website was originally created over a decade ago by me, Brad Wilcox as a place to provide information about the fire protection industry that was lacking at the time and is now evolving into a site for blogging.

I am in my 29th year in the fire protection industry. I am a NICET Level IV certified Senior Engineering Technician (SET) in Fire Alarm Systems as well as Special Hazards Systems. I have served as a Subject Matter Expert for NICET assisting in test writing for both the Fire Alarm and Special Hazards Systems test as well as being one of the writers of the inaugural exams for Fire Alarm Inspection and Testing program. I also am a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)as well as a graduate of Easten Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science, Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology.

I have worked as a fire extinguisher technician, fire suppression technician working on everything from kitchen hoods systems, dry chemical, clean agent, CO2, and foam. I have been a fire alarm technician, project manager, estimator, designer, and salesperson for fire protection contactors in New York and Georgia. After moving to Georgia, I worked for Honeywell Fire and Life Safety as an Application Specialist assisting their distributor worldwide with shop drawing, fire alarm programming and site support and surveys of existing systems for all of their brands.

After eight years with them I moved on to becoming an Engineering Consultant and Fire Protection Engineering Technologist for seven years where I supported a team of 50 engineers and support profession with my knowledge of fire alarm and special hazards systems. Along the way I managed a few projects, designed a few systems and provided consulting on other fire protection and life safety issues and became as first an Alternate and now a Principal on NFPE 915 Remote Inspections

Now I am a Product Manager for an Edge Computing device in the IoT or Internet of Things space, where the fire protection world is being dragged, from the past into the future where we can make a more fire safe world.
